When adding an account in the system, you might get an error 'email/user already exists'. That is usually because the email address is already in use with another account. You shouldn't have to create a new account, but instead find the correct match.
Here are some things you can check:
When you go to add an account, please ask them for the exact spelling of the name they have used for that account they already have. Example: Current account has it as Matthew Smith with email@example.com and you are trying to link the parent to his child but you're typing in Matt Smith with that same email address, it won't work because that email address is already in use with Matthew Smith.
Confirm you are using the same email they use for their GotSport UserID/Email
Spaces are the invisible enemy. Make sure there are absolutely no spaces before or after the name, email, etc. If the name field is entered Matt_ with a space at the end, this will also create the error.
Account is not set up right
Sometimes when registering a player/coach/spouse may accidentally set their child's or player's account as their own and never create a GotSport account for themselves. In other words, their UserID/email is being used for the UserID/email for their child's account and therefor is not available. Club Admins can easily resolve the issue if the player is part of their club - See article how to fix.
