USYS State championship events award points in a similar manner as regular events - they are ranked by the top five teams in each age-group. These teams contribute a set amount of points based on their current national ranking position. These points are combined and then averaged to generate the flight's final value or pool.
State Champions are awarded all the points from this pool, minus 20% of their current national points total.
However, unlike other events, there's a minimum level of 500 point for champions, 250 for finalists and 125 for semi-finalists. The placements that are eligible for points are still determined by the number of teams in the flight.
This means that a team that beats top teams while winning its State championship will receive all the ranking points available under the GotSoccer system. Consequently, a team that wins a state championship by beating teams not well represented within the rankings will receive no less then the minimum of 500 points, or a team that simply has too large of a deduction to be eligible for points will also receive a minimum of 500 points.
This applies to State cup events that are part of the USYS National Championship Series only. This does not apply to any other USYS Championship event.
